Spreadsheet I made to find patterns in mid-1910 New Orleans murder reports for my History of Violence in America paper.
One double murder/homicide. One case in which two men shot each other, and then the daughter of one man shot the other five more times. Two cases in which people shot “unknown approaching figures”; one shot the person, a stranger, six times in the stomach with a double-barrel shotgun, and the other found out he’d accidentally shot his workmate’s sister-in-law (oops?), also with a shotgun. Tons of bar fights. One man died after being punched in the face once; most got shot by the proprietor or another patron after shooting or stabbing someone else. Pretty much everyone seems to have had a revolver on their person at all times.
Yeesh. People.
